Mirambel is a small town in Teruel in the heart of the Maestrazgo. With a population that does not reach two hundred inhabitants, it has a walled structure around its perimeter with single access through the Portal de las Monjas and a hamlet whose origins date back to the 13th and 17th centuries. There is thus a harmony between the medieval military construction and the typical Aragonese civil architecture of the Low Renaissance.

The town was under the control of the Templars during the Middle Ages and was a border post between Aragon and the kingdom of Valencia. It was also a place of much military activity during the two Carlist wars.

Between 1976 and 1980 the MOPU took over the restoration project with a budget of 37 million pesetas. The rehabilitation focused on reforming the Main Street, repairing the entrance arch, renovating façades and eaves, replacing electrical and telephone lines, and constructing a sewage system.
