The intervention has respected at all times the original work and techniques, as well as its link with the landscape environment, turning this hotel proposal into an example of tourist revitalization respecting its historical past.

Built in 1898 as part of the defense system of the city of Palma de Mallorca, Cap Enderrocat is the largest fortress on the Balearic Islands. Its main buildings cover more than 4,000 m2, and the entire complex covers 30 hectares along 2 kilometres of coastline. Since the end of the Spanish Civil War in 1939, the fortress suffered a slow decline that led to its abandonment in the 1980s.

The renovation was extremely complex due to several causes, such as its enormous size, its status as a National Monument, and the fact of being part of a protected environment. The project lasted for fifteen years with the strict sense of guaranteeing that its new use, hotel, could be sustainably developed in space and time.
